FishPedia: Journal of Fisheries, Marine and Aquatic Sciences is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to publishing pioneering research at the forefront of sustainable aquaculture, marine biology, and aquatic ecosystem management. Positioned at the critical intersection of marine ecology, fisheries technology, and blue economy policies, the journal serves as an authoritative scholarly forum for ichthyologists, marine biologists, aquaculturists, environmental scientists, and ocean governance experts worldwide. FishPedia prioritizes macro-level ecological frameworks, rigorous experimental aquaculture designs, and innovative bio-technological solutions that address global challenges such as overfishing, habitat degradation, and climate-induced transformations in aquatic systems. By bridging raw laboratory findings with scalable marine resource conservation models, the journal fosters a holistic understanding of aquatic biodiversity, food security, and marine sustainability.
The journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, critical reviews, and conceptual papers that offer significant contributions to the following thematic areas:
Sustainable Aquaculture & Nutrition: Innovative fish and shellfish breeding techniques, seaweed cultivation, aquatic animal health and disease management, bio-floc technology, and sustainable feed development.
Marine Ecology & Biodiversity: Population dynamics of marine organisms, coral reef conservation, mangrove and seagrass ecology, marine biotechnology, and the impacts of ocean acidification on aquatic life.
Fisheries Management & Technology: Advanced capture fisheries technologies, selective fishing gear design, stock assessment models, small-scale fisheries dynamics, and computational tracking in maritime security.
Aquatic Toxicology & Environmental Health: Microplastic pollution monitoring, heavy metal bioaccumulation studies, aquatic habitat remediation, and the assessment of anthropogenic stress on freshwater and marine ecosystems.
Blue Economy & Marine Policy: Maritime socio-economics, coastal zone management, sustainable seafood supply chain architectures, carbon sequestration in aquatic systems (blue carbon), and international ocean governance metrics.
To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and timely dissemination of critical aquatic and fisheries discoveries, FishPedia is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues focusing on urgent ecological crises, breakthroughs in blue biotechnology, or emerging global seafood security guidelines may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.
FishPedia enforces a strict double-blind peer review policy to maintain the highest standards of scientific validity and environmental integrity.
Initial Desk Evaluation: Every submission undergoes a preliminary screening by the Editor-in-Chief or a relevant Subject Editor to assess thematic alignment, methodological soundness, and compliance with ethical frameworks (including mandatory animal welfare statements and ethical clearances for wildlife sampling). Plagiarism screening via Turnitin/iThenticate is strictly executed at this stage, requiring a similarity index below the journal's maximum threshold.
Expert Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the desk evaluation are anonymized and assigned to at least two independent international reviewers who are established experts in the specific domain of fisheries, marine biology, or aquatic sciences.
Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board renders one of four decisions: Acceptance, Revisions Required (Minor/Major), Resubmit for Review, or Rejection. The final decision rests entirely on the empirical merit, reproducibility of ecological/biological data, and practical impact of the work on aquatic sustainability.
Mission Statement: "The mission of FishPedia is to deconstruct marine and aquatic complexities, catalyzing clean, secure, and sustainable marine resource pathways within a rapidly changing planetary ecosystem. Grounded in the philosophy that healthy aquatic biomes and ethical fisheries are absolute pillars for global food security, climate mitigation, and human equity, the journal aims to democratize advanced aquatic knowledge by providing an unrestricted, high-impact platform for global scholarly dialogue. Through the promotion of diverse and robust methodological approaches—encompassing empirical laboratory assays, field-based ecological monitoring, and predictive mathematical bio-economic models—FishPedia seeks to empower conservation architects, inspire aquaculture developers, and shape future-proof, evidence-based marine policies worldwide."
